# 40% of Organizations in Indonesia Hesitant to Use AI Agents Due to Data Breach Threat

On October 21, 2026, a significant concern emerged regarding data breaches as 40% of organizations in Indonesia expressed hesitation to adopt AI agents extensively for their cybersecurity operations. This finding was revealed by recent research from Cisco, titled Relentless Defense Report, amid rising fears about autonomous agent-based cyber attacks occurring within seconds.

The reluctance of Indonesian companies to widely utilize AI agents is driven by deep-seated anxieties related to three primary risks. Cisco's research emphasizes that organizations that delay human response coordination for days are likely to face difficulties in managing autonomous agent attacks that can unfold in mere seconds.

Interestingly, despite the doubts surrounding the extensive adoption of AI agents, a majority of cybersecurity teams in Indonesia feel very confident when confronted with AI-based hacking threats. Cisco's report notes that over 80% of organizations in the country believe they can detect and respond effectively if there are AI agents within their systems that have been compromised or controlled by unauthorized parties.

Cin Cin Go, Managing Director of Cisco Indonesia, underscored that the current landscape of cyber threats necessitates real operational agility rather than mere technological dependence. "AI has fundamentally escalated risks in cybersecurity defense. Defense speed is driven by operational agility, not just technology. Organizations that can maintain superiority are those that integrate security into operations and break down silos," stated Cin Cin Go.

The research also highlights that the most significant adoption of AI technology in Indonesia currently occurs in data security and privacy sectors. Conversely, the lowest adoption rate is found in Identity and Access Management (IAM), an area crucial for AI agents to significantly reduce the workload of security teams.

Despite the dilemma of adopting AI agents, Indonesia's overall cybersecurity performance is notably high. With an average score of 72 out of 100, 29% of organizations in Indonesia qualify as Relentless Defenders, a group characterized by robust cybersecurity defenses, significantly surpassing the global average of only 8%.
