# Epic Games announces new AI-coded launcher

Epic Games has announced a significantly faster and better "launcher" (download), but what is attracting much attention besides Linux support is that the app is vibecodet, meaning created using AI.

Epic Games stated, "Programming is difficult. So instead of doing it, we vibecodet a new Epic Games Launcher that is much faster and more responsive than the current version, and has a new appearance," in a blog post.

The company continues by mentioning that it has therefore "vibecodet" a new Epic Games Launcher with a new look, faster startup, and better response. Epic acknowledges that the first version has few features, describing it as a speedboat rather than a yacht. The test version is available for Windows, macOS, and for the first time Linux.

Some argue that the comparison misses the mark because Steam has many more features. User ZooL points out that Valve's client has accumulated functionality over several decades, while Epic tries to impress with the speed of a simpler program.

However, reactions are not all negative, Ancient Gameplays states that the new client is "VERY FAST," without sarcasm in the analysis. After personal testing, they highlight four improvements.
