# Gartner: Open AI models could perform 90 percent of tasks at a lower cost

The analysis company Gartner states in a new report that open AI models could complete 90 percent of the tasks of corporate AI agents by 2030 at a significantly lower cost than advanced commercial models. The report mentions that most of the work of AI agents involves routine tasks that rarely require the advanced reasoning abilities of the most expensive AI models.

Therefore, the cost could be a quarter compared to the cheapest closed models with equivalent performance. However, it is noted that open models sometimes need multiple attempts to complete a task. Additionally, a benefit of open models is that they can run on companies' own infrastructure, providing more control over information.
