# Microsoft employees must constantly view sexual images while assessing AI prompts

Microsoft employees who check and evaluate prompts from Copilot are reportedly forced to view sexual material daily. This includes images where users look under women's skirts and place women in inappropriate positions.

When a user types a prompt into an AI chatbot's chat window, they may think that the communication is private. However, this is not the case, even with Microsoft Copilot. Behind the scenes, hundreds of employees are tasked by Microsoft with reviewing user prompts, including those related to photos.

Leaked documents obtained by 404 Media reveal that these individuals are confronted daily with explicit and inappropriate images. This includes prompts that involve making women's clothing shorter or enlarging certain body parts. Looking under skirts is also notably popular. Additionally, some images appear to promote anorexia.

The troubling aspect of this situation is that these employees are not hired to block content or enhance the safety of the AI service. Instead, they are merely required to check whether the AI, in this case, Microsoft Copilot, has performed its task correctly. They must review the original photo and the prompt and then assess which AI editing was most successful, relying solely on intuition due to the apparent lack of guidelines.

As a result, these employees are presented with unsolicited explicit and sometimes illegal content. They express their frustration on internal forums regarding the amount of sexually explicit tasks they are shown without prior warning. Microsoft stated in response that it uses customer data in accordance with its terms of service to improve its products.
