# Open AI's AI agents implicated after Wikipedia disruption

Wikimedia Foundation, which hosts the encyclopedia Wikipedia, has reported discovering extensive activity from AI agents that the organization believes were driven by Open AI. The bots allegedly edited Wikimedia pages, attempted to exploit the note-taking tool Etherpad, and sent millions of automated requests.

Wikimedia suspects that traffic from these calls may have contributed to a partial disruption in May. The organization states that it has not found any signs of compromised systems or data.
