# Tencent launches Hy4 model, a budget-friendly alternative to Kimi K3.1 Pro

Tencent has launched the Hy4 model, a budget-friendly AI model with capabilities comparable to the Kimi K3.1 Pro, despite its significantly lower price. The Tencent Hy research team introduced the Hy4 model after several months of releasing preview versions, noting that its performance in various tests has surpassed even leading models like the Kimi K3.1 Pro size 3T, and its token costs are much lower.

Multiple tests have shown clear improvements from the preview version, including ProgramBench, 3DArena, and Terminal Bench 4.0. The team indicated that the image processing capabilities have significantly advanced due to specialized training, which includes the use of 3D software like Blender and CAD, as well as web and game development.

However, Tencent has intentionally limited the training related to cybersecurity, particularly in areas such as system hacking and reverse engineering. Additionally, biological capabilities have been reduced below the specified threshold. The team acknowledged that some test results still show poor performance in areas such as mathematics, long-term coding tasks, artificial intelligence model development, and complex image reading, which are targeted for future development.

The API cost for the Hy4 model is set at 0.834/2.5 dollars per million tokens, with a 50% discount being offered during this introductory period. The team is also working on developing Hy4 Flash, which is expected to be faster and cheaper.
