Accenture has inaugurated its Agentic AI Innovation Hub in Barcelona, a new space where company professionals collaborate with organizations, startups, and academic representatives to co-innovate and develop solutions enabled by agentic AI.
The hub, which began operations in June, is part of the company's Barcelona Innovation Center located at its La Rotonda offices. Its primary goal is to accelerate organizational transformation and expand the real-world impact that agentic AI is already generating in the economy, public services, and society. The initiative aims to move organizations from the experimentation phase to large-scale adoption of customized agentic AI solutions.
The inauguration event was closed by Albert Tort, Secretary of Telecommunications and Digital Transformation of the Generalitat de Catalonia. The ceremony also featured the presence of Nadia Quevedo, Commissioner for Employment and Trade of the Barcelona City Council, along with several CEOs and senior executives from major companies in Catalonia, technology company leaders, academic institutions, and regional ecosystem associations.
According to an Accenture report titled 'The Era of Co-intelligence', it is estimated that more than 50% of working hours will be impacted by AI agents. This statistic highlights the need for organizations to reimagine ways of working and create value. Mercedes Oblanca, President and CEO of Accenture in Spain and Portugal, stated that agentic AI is already generating real impact in organizations across all sectors. She emphasized the company's objective to accelerate this transformation responsibly, using concrete, secure, and scalable solutions that combine technological potential with human talent, knowledge, and judgment to create economic, social, and environmental value.
Oblanca indicated that the Barcelona hub reinforces the company's long-term commitment to the city as a strategic hub for innovation and advanced technology. In this new space, local and international organizations work to co-innovate, explore, and design how to integrate agentic AI into the core of their operations. This includes redefining processes, developing and securely deploying agentic platforms, designing responsible AI governance models, and creating training and adoption plans for new ways of working.
The hub seeks to provide clients with a complete vision for a successful deployment of agentic AI technology. To achieve this, it works collaboratively on concrete solutions with technology partners, startups, and academic institutions. Clients gain access to applied innovation, emerging operational models, and reference architectures, as well as personalized workshops and practical sessions to accelerate the adoption of agentic AI. With this opening, Accenture aims to accelerate artificial intelligence innovation by leveraging local talent, industrial knowledge, and close collaboration with ecosystem partners, universities, and local institutions.
