The internet organization ICANN has opened applications for new top-level domains for the first time in several years. The organization has received 1,615 applications for new top-level domains from a total of 481 applicants. Among these, the interest in artificial intelligence is dominant, as reported by The Verge. A total of ten companies want to acquire the top-level domain .agent, including Open AI and Meta.
Seven have applied for .agi while six seek .asi. Additionally.intelligence and .superintelligence have attracted several applicants. However, the applications do not guarantee that the domains will be approved. ICANN's review process continues, and no new top-level domains are expected to be official until 2027.
