On November 3, 2026, Apple announced that it will make its new voice assistant, Siri AI, available for integration with third-party applications to all developers. The announcement coincided with the release of beta versions of iOS 27.3, iPadOS 27.3, macOS 27.3, and visionOS 27.3, which began providing a developer preview.
Siri AI features advanced conversational abilities and personalization functions compared to its predecessor. By utilizing Apple's App Intents, developers will be able to integrate the content and operations of their third-party applications directly with Siri AI.
The new assistant is designed to understand users' personal contexts and recognize information on the screen, employing natural language processing capabilities. Users will be able to perform tasks such as checking delivery statuses, making restaurant reservations, and ordering products simply by speaking to Siri AI, without needing to open the apps themselves.
A new feature called "skills" will allow Siri AI to handle complex requests by combining multiple operations. This means that Siri AI can execute tasks that involve multiple actions. Additionally, information registered in the Spotlight semantic index will not be restricted to predefined formats, making it accessible through Siri AI.
Apple has already begun rolling out new functionalities to its own applications, including Calendar, Mail, Maps, Messages, Photos, and Safari. For instance, users will be able to find a coffee shop they visited last week or archive files that have not been opened in over a year.
Siri AI supports six languages, including Japanese. The features created during this developer preview are expected to be made available to general users in a few months, with the application submission for compatible apps to the App Store beginning in spring 2027. Apple plans to release more details regarding the terms and usage policies for applications utilizing Siri AI in the future.
To use Siri AI, an Apple Intelligence compatible device is required, and some features may not be available based on region or language. Users under the age of 13 are excluded. Moreover, certain functionalities that utilize server-side AI models will have daily usage limits, with plans to allow users to expand their usage for a fee in the future.
