DeepL has established an environment that allows direct use of its translation function within major artificial intelligence services such as ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, and Claude. On September 29, DeepL announced the provision of the 'DeepL Model Context Protocol (MCP)', which enables connection to these services. By linking their DeepL accounts, users can translate text and entire documents without switching to a separate translation tool.

The MCP is an open standard that connects AI assistants with external tool functionalities. When users log in by connecting their accounts, the AI assistant can directly send translation requests to DeepL.

Users can translate individual messages or multiple texts into one or more languages. When translating entire documents, the formatting and layout of existing elements such as tables, headers, and images can be preserved.

Company-specific terminology and style can also be reflected in translations. By applying existing DeepL glossaries and style rules, variations in professional terminology or expressions can be minimized during translations.

DeepL also supports functionality to designate the AI assistant as the default translation service. Once set, users do not need to separately instruct the AI to use DeepL for translation requests. Administrators can enable or disable organizational access as needed.

The servers are operated directly by DeepL, so users do not need to install or run anything separately. In addition to major AI assistants, it is possible to connect to other AI agents and developer tools that support remote MCP servers.
