Google has launched a new experimental note-taking tool called "Google AI Edge Foresight," which allows users to record meetings and audio files and convert them into complete text without needing an internet connection or sending data to its cloud servers.

The tool operates for free on Mac devices equipped with Apple Silicon processors and relies on the "EmbeddingGemma 2" model for processing audio and notes directly on the device.

"Google AI Edge Foresight" enables users to jot down brief points during meetings and then transform them into organized notes based on the content of the transcribed audio. The tool offers similar functions to AI-powered meeting note applications, such as Granola and Wispr Flow.

Additionally, it includes a smart assistant that users can ask questions about the meeting content or recorded information, and it allows linking locally stored files on the device for the assistant to reference while answering questions.

Google confirmed that users' files and audio recordings of meetings and notes "do not leave the computer," indicating the tool's reliance on local processing instead of sending data to the company's servers.

"Google AI Edge Foresight" stands out in the rapidly growing market of AI-powered meeting note applications due to its ability to perform transcription, summarization, and question-answering on the device without relying on cloud services.
