Harmonic Security has announced the completion of a new funding round totaling 50 million dollars. The company, a startup focused on workplace AI security, will use the capital to expand its platform for governing how employees utilize various AI tools in their daily work. This Series B round was led by Crosspoint Capital Partners, with participation from existing investors. The investment exceeded initial expectations, bringing the total capital raised by the company to 76 million dollars. The previous funding round, a Series A of 17.5 million dollars, was led by Next47 in October 2024.
The core function of the Harmonic platform is to inspect all data that employees send to AI tools before it reaches its destination. The system employs custom small language models to read the context of each interaction and returns inspection results within milliseconds. It is tuned to detect specific risks, such as real-time identity verification data being copied into chat windows, while allowing developers to reference database structures without interruption. Initially, these checks operated only within web browsers, but over the past year, Harmonic has extended its capabilities to desktop AI applications and various AI agent workflows. The company views these expanded environments as key areas where issues, such as employees using personal accounts for AI services, frequently occur.
Beyond basic security monitoring, Harmonic offers a Usage Intelligence layer that operates on the same underlying models. This feature allows organizational leaders to determine which AI use cases generate a worthwhile return on investment. The system provides visibility down to the individual employee level, identifying those who have independently discovered faster ways to complete tasks. Alastair Paterson, co-founder and chief executive officer, stated that every board he has spoken with recently wants to know if AI is creating real value for the organization alongside methods to reduce usage risks.
Harmonic has integrated its platform with existing enterprise tools to enhance its utility. One such integration is with the Agent Builder, which Cisco Systems announced for its Cloud Control platform at the Cisco Live event in June. Harmonic was named as one of the connections in this ecosystem, with the integration functioning through the Model Context Protocol. A second integration involves the Claude Compliance API from Anthropic. This connection pulls activity logs from the Claude Platform, which is hosted by Anthropic, into Harmonic. Organizations using Claude Enterprise can also access the content of various conversations through this link.
The company currently serves more than 100 clients, including some large global organizations. Harmonic states that millions of employees are under the protection of its system. To expand its market reach, the company has signed distribution partnerships with Climb Global Solutions and Distology. Harmonic employs more than 90 people in the United States and the United Kingdom. The new funding will be used to hire engineers and expand the marketing team on both sides of the Atlantic. Zach Sivertson, managing director at Crosspoint, noted that security often slows the adoption of new technology too much. He added that organizations adopting AI should not have to lose control to move quickly, and that Harmonic provides a clear vision for leaders to use AI more rapidly. Paterson said the company has real momentum and that this round will help it build faster while the AI market continues to change.
