OpenAI doubles usage limits for ChatGPT Pro subscribers

OpenAI doubled the usage limits for all ChatGPT Pro subscriptions. This includes plans priced at $100, $200, $500, and the Business Premium plan. The change took effect immediately, canceling a planned reduction in quotas for the $200 Pro plan that was scheduled for October 30. The canceled measure would have reduced the usage of ChatGPT Plus in ChatGPT Work and Codex from 20 times to 10 times for $200 plan subscribers. The weekly limit for GPT-6 Pro would have also dropped from 200 to 100 messages.
However, the $500 subscription would have maintained a quota equivalent to 25 times the usage of Plus in both tools. The increase applies to ChatGPT Work and Codex, which share the usage quotas of eligible subscriptions. OpenAI also confirmed that the extended limits for Dots, personal AI agents that perform background tasks, will continue for now. The consumption of these tools will remain separate from the standard quota of subscriptions. Thibault Sottiaux, a software engineer and product executive at OpenAI, announced the decision in a post on X.
He also stated that OpenAI will continue to release better models and updates to optimize system performance, aiming to increase capacity and usage volume for subscribers over time. The statement suggests that the company intends to gradually increase available resources beyond the announced doubling of quotas.
