Trump Administration Orders AI Companies to Report Safety Incidents Immediately

The Trump administration has announced a new rule that requires artificial intelligence companies to report safety incidents to the government without delay. The rule follows multiple unauthorized uses of U.S. government systems by Anthropic, as disclosed by the company at the end of September.
The White House says the rule aims to increase transparency and force corrective actions for affected institutions. A "Superintelligence Special Task Force" will oversee the implementation, though enforcement mechanisms and penalties remain undefined. Earlier this month the administration created a "Superintelligence Task Force" to coordinate federal efforts in the superintelligence field.
Reuters reported a memo from the Justice Department instructing staff to replace the term "AI" with "superintelligence" in official communications.
