Anthropic, a major artificial intelligence company, has published its S-1 filing in preparation for an initial public offering (IPO), marking the first time the company has disclosed its financial information and key business issues to the public. The company plans to list its Class A shares on the Nasdaq stock exchange under the ticker symbol ANT. The price and number of shares to be offered in the IPO have yet to be determined.
The filing was submitted in June, initially as confidential, keeping details undisclosed until now. Anthropic reported total revenue of 16.3 billion dollars for the first half of 2026, representing an increase of 1,304% compared to the same period last year. In contrast, last year's total revenue for 2025 was 4.59 billion dollars. However, Anthropic also reported a net loss of 80.7 billion dollars for the first half of this year, which is a significant increase from the 12.9 billion dollar loss in the previous year. The company attributes this loss to changes in accounting valuation methods, primarily due to the increased valuation of convertible bonds.
Notably, no customers accounted for more than 10% of the total revenue, with the five largest customers contributing approximately 25% of the total revenue. Revenue from customers purchasing models through cloud service providers constitutes 48% of Anthropic's overall revenue. Anthropic pays SpaceX approximately 3.1 billion dollars per month for the rental of NVIDIA GPUs and also engages other providers such as Microsoft, Nscale, and Lambda.
The founding group of the company, which includes CEO Dario Amodei and his sister Daniela Amodei, who serves as president, collectively holds 50.1% of the voting rights in Anthropic. According to the filing, two competitors in the AI space identified by the company are OpenAI and Google.
