Gomumari Co., Ltd. has begun providing an artificial intelligence agent designed to manage accounts receivable operations starting November 3, 2026. The service targets accounting departments that currently rely on manual labor and individual experience to reconcile balances and categorize outstanding invoices. The new system applies uniform criteria to all transactions, ensuring that only balances requiring human verification are presented to staff.

The AI agent processes accounts receivable ledgers and payment data by matching every entry against a consistent standard. It categorizes balances into aging brackets based on the number of days elapsed since the due date. For balances denominated in foreign currencies, the system performs currency conversion to allow for a unified comparison. The output consists of an aging report and a list of items requiring confirmation, which includes the specific basis for each detection. The system does not guess or fill in missing links between payments and invoices; instead, it flags these discrepancies for human review.

A 2024 survey of 519 workers in the wholesale and manufacturing sectors highlighted the persistent anxiety surrounding accounts receivable collection. In the wholesale industry, 60.7 percent of respondents reported feeling anxious or somewhat anxious about collection, while the figure was 55.5 percent in manufacturing. This anxiety stems from the need to verify monthly which specific invoices from which customers have remained uncollected beyond their due dates. The traditional manual process involves picking invoices from ledgers, matching them with payment data, and counting days to assign aging categories, a task that becomes complex when foreign currencies are involved.

The implementation process begins with an initial setup phase lasting approximately four weeks, starting at a cost of 500,000 yen. Following this, the service operates on a monthly subscription basis starting at 50,000 yen. During the first week of setup, the company uses real data to determine the scope of automation. The system runs continuously from the following month, allowing staff to focus solely on judging the flagged discrepancies rather than performing the initial matching and categorization. This approach reduces the risk of errors and eliminates the variability that occurs when different staff members apply different standards for categorization.

The technology behind the agent was developed through implementation in actual corporate environments. The system recalculates aging categories from raw data due dates rather than relying on auxiliary columns in existing reports. It ensures data integrity by using the same values for both verification and reporting, and it halts the process if the sum of individual customer details does not match the total sum of raw data rows. Gomumari positions itself as a forward-deployed engineering company that builds AI agents tailored to specific business workflows.

The company offers this service in two formats: a custom AI agent implementation and a specialized business process outsourcing service where clients send data and receive the finished reports. The latter can be used on a one-time or monthly basis. Gomumari also plans to expand its lineup of AI business process outsourcing services in the accounting and finance domain, including payment reconciliation and monthly closing checks, based on workflows refined in real-world settings.
