Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, met with approximately 50 presidents from major Samsung Group affiliates to discuss management strategies for the AI era.
During a meeting titled The Next 10 Years Changed by AI, the Choice of Companies, Altman stated that simply adopting AI is insufficient for securing a competitive advantage. He emphasized that corporate competitiveness will be determined by how quickly a company moves and creates better products using AI.
Attendees included Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Jun Young-hyun, head of the Device Solutions division, and President Roh Tae-moon, head of the Device Experience division, along with executives from the finance and bio sectors. The group discussed the direction of AI technology, new business opportunities, and changes in organizational operation and decision making.
Altman presented Samsung executives with Codex Micro keyboards, which are small input devices designed to control the OpenAI coding agent Codex. He explained that these devices reflect a shift toward managing results from AI rather than humans directly operating computers.
Samsung Electronics and OpenAI signed a letter of intent in October last year to build global AI infrastructure. Samsung Electronics is pursuing the supply of advanced memory semiconductors for the Stargate project. Additionally, Samsung SDS is cooperating on AI data centers and enterprise services, while Samsung C&T and Samsung Heavy Industries are pursuing the development of floating offshore data centers.
