New Capgemini research finds most large organizations view complete digital sovereignty as unrealistic, with many accepting 'resilient interdependence' and one in ten unable to replace a critical provider.
For engineers, this means that efforts to achieve full technological independence are likely to fail, so the practical goal is managing critical dependencies rather than eliminating them. The survey also shows that a significant minority cannot replace a critical provider at all, making risk mitigation and visibility into supply chains essential. AI is now the top focus of sovereignty efforts, ahead of cloud and data.
