HyperX Driver Coming For Linux 7.3 Just To Report A Microphone's Mute Status

Linux kernel 7.3 will add a HID-HyperX driver that reports the mute status of HyperX USB gaming microphones.
Audio applications can finally query whether the microphone is muted, enabling correct UI indicators and automated handling. The change requires moving to kernel 7.3 or later, but no additional user-space packages are needed. It only addresses mute reporting; other microphone features remain unsupported.

A dedicated HID-HyperX driver is being merged into the Linux 7.3 kernel.
The driver’s sole function is to expose the microphone’s mute flag.
Support is limited to systems running kernel 7.3 or newer; older kernels lack this capability.
