Linux 7.3 KSMBD Adds Interoperability For Apple Time Machine Backups

The in-kernel SMB3/CIFS server KSMBD in the in-development Linux 7.3 kernel now supports interoperability with Apple Time Machine backups.
This gives engineers a kernel-level SMB3 server option for hosting Time Machine backups, which previously required user-space SMB implementations. The kernel approach promises higher performance and lower resource overhead for that workload.
