A driver for the Broadcom AXI performance monitoring unit, covering all Raspberry Pi models from 1 through 5, is under review for mainline Linux kernel inclusion.
Mainline inclusion would give engineers working with Raspberry Pi hardware native kernel-level performance monitoring without relying on out-of-tree patches. This has been a gap in upstream kernel support for the platform.
