Mnemonic's research found apps including a Samsung-endorsed Pac-Man game contained Bright Data resproxy code that activates after user consent and runs in the background even when the app is closed.
Many affected apps are minimal shells loading content from remote servers, meaning app store reviews see only a few lines of code rather than the actual runtime content.
