Samsung reportedly developing a wider foldable with video-optimized aspect ratio for 2027
A report from South Korean outlet ETNews, relayed by Engadget, claims Samsung is planning a foldable wider than the Galaxy Z Fold 8 with a display aspect ratio optimized for video viewing, targeting a 2027 release.
The Z Fold 8's 4:3 main display forces letterboxing around most video content, a near-universal caveat in reviews. A wider device with a video-optimized ratio would address that limitation directly. Samsung may also be expanding its foldable lineup to five devices for 2027, including a refreshed Galaxy Z TriFold that was previously discontinued at a $2,900 launch price.
