Lowell K. Wood IV created an open-source database where anyone can submit reports of coil whine across graphics cards, power supplies, and liquid cooler pumps, grading noise levels from silent to audible at idle.
Coil whine is a widespread but poorly quantified problem, and pricier hardware offers no immunity. This database attempts to build a statistically grounded picture by requiring at least five reports before showing a verdict and explicitly soliciting silent-unit reports to counter reporting bias.

The database accepts submissions via a form or pull request, covering brand, product version, SKU, year, and noise conditions such as idle, load, game menus, or Furmark.
Coil whine is graded 0 for silent through 4 for audible at idle, and a part only receives a verdict once at least five reports are collected.
The creator notes that published coil-whine percentages represent a ceiling rather than an estimate, because annoyed owners tend to over-report and silent owners tend to under-report.
