Twelve South introduced a new Valet model that reduces the depth from 7.5 inches to 4.25 inches. The wireless charging base now supports up to 25W output via Qi2, up from 15W in the original. The pad retains the Nappa leather top and frame, interchangeable frames, and the bottom LED light array. A USB-C port on the underside remains available for charging additional devices.
The smaller Valet is priced at $130, compared with the original $180 version. Adopting it requires using the USB-C port for Apple Watch charging because the pad lacks a built-in watch puck. Total simultaneous output is capped at 35W, so using the USB-C port at full 25W reduces the wireless charging headroom. Cable routing tabs and raised feet allow the power cable to be secured in any orientation.
Because there is only one wireless charging spot, users cannot charge multiple phones or earbuds simultaneously on the pad itself. The 35W total limit means that high-power USB-C devices and the wireless charger cannot both run at peak power. The pad does not include native Apple Watch magnetic charging, so a separate cable is necessary. For engineers needing a multi-device charging hub, the Valet may stop working as a sole solution.
