Walmart and Sam's Club to accept tap to pay by end 2026
Engineers will need to update Walmart and Sam's Club point-of-sale systems and payment backends to support tap to pay transactions nationwide by late 2026
Adding tap to pay requires retailers to upgrade point-of-sale hardware and adjust payment processing pipelines for contactless transactions. Engineers must also enable provisioning of Walmart, Sam's Club and OnePay cards into digital wallets. Because Walmart adopted the feature later than many competitors, delays in rollout could affect transaction speed and customer experience if systems are not ready.
