Afterglow emulator runs original 68k After Dark modules on macOS 15+ without ROMs or classic Mac OS
Afterglow is a new emulator that runs classic After Dark screen saver modules on modern macOS by executing the original 68k code without requiring Apple ROMs or classic Mac OS installations.
Previously, running After Dark modules required fussy configuration of Mac OS emulators or vintage hardware, and no single setup could faithfully run every module. Afterglow reimplements just enough of the Macintosh Toolbox and OS APIs to run the original modules directly, making preservation and enjoyment of these classic screen savers practical on current hardware.
