Two thieves in China swapped RTX 5080 and 5070 GPUs for RTX 3060s across multiple gaming hotel visits, and the downgrades went entirely undetected by any monitoring until a power outage prompted physical inspection of the PC cases.

The hotels had no mechanism to detect that their provisioned components had been replaced with inferior ones, and the performance gap between an RTX 5080 and an RTX 3060 generated zero automated alerts.
